This month, Extra Help proudly celebrates its 14th birthday!
Founded in 2010 by Claire Robinson, Extra Help has grown to become one of the most highly-respected home-help and cleaning franchises in the UK. Over the years, we’ve expanded our reach, providing essential services, from household chores to dog-walking and companionship, to many clients across the country.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on our achievements of the past year:
Growing franchise network
Extra Help has seen significant growth across the network this year, including our first franchisee in Scotland! As of now, we have 35 franchisees, each equally passionate about delivering high-quality, reliable home-help services to their local communities.
In 2024, we launched Extra Help in several, new territories, including:
- North Somerset
- Guildford
- The Cotswolds
- Huntingdonshire
- Glasgow & Renfrew
- South Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster
- Sutton Coldfield & Birmingham North
Award-Winning Excellence
- BFA HSBC Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year: We were extremely proud and honoured to be named BFA HSBC Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year at the end of last year. This accolade is a true testament to our commitment to excellence and the positive impact we make on the franchising industry.
- 30 Under 30 Awards: This year, two of our youngest franchisees, Sarah Sanders of Extra Help South Hams, West Devon, and Bude, and Charlie Hawkes of Extra Help North & Mid Devon, were both selected by the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to receive prestigious ‘30 Under 30’ Awards! These remarkable young entrepreneurs exemplify the spirit of hard work and dedication that defines Extra Help. Their commitment to providing essential and high-quality home-help services has made a huge impact on many people’s lives.
- Extra Help Awards: Lastly, several of our high-achieving franchisees were recently recognised and received awards at our Annual Conference, including Carol Godding and Cath Arnold, co-owners of Extra Help Wirral, who were named Franchisees of the Year 2024.
Franchisee success stories
We love hearing stories about our franchisees’ willingness to go above and beyond to make their clients feel special and valued.
One example is Rachel Brown, owner of Extra Help St Albans, who decided to take an elderly client out for lunch to thank him for his custom for a whole year. Rachel says this particular client’s family lives far away and Extra Help St Albans provides him with cleaning and companionship services for four hours per week.
Rather than just sending out birthday and Christmas cards, Rachel thought it would be lovely to celebrate the little things in life that often get overlooked. Her client was overjoyed by the gesture. It’s this genuine kindness that makes our Extra Help franchisees so special and unique!
Sandra, co-owner of Extra Help Barnet, has also told us she has a client who recently turned 100 years old! The lady in question lives in sheltered accommodation and relies on Extra Help Barnet to help her with transport to appointments, companionship, and light housework.
As we celebrate our 14th birthday, it’s clear we have so much to be proud of. From expanding our franchise network to winning prestigious awards, Extra Help continues to make a significant impact within the home-help industry.
