Equality & Diversity Policy
The purpose of the policy is to ensure that all people are treated equally whilst combating and eliminating discrimination and unacceptable behaviour.
Extra Help Ltd aims to be an inclusive company where diversity is valued and respected with the ability to recruit and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities it serves.
We aim to pro-actively tackle discrimination or disadvantage and to ensure that no individual or group is directly or indirectly discriminated against for any reason with regard to employment or accessing its services.
Diversity and equality forms an integral part of the Extra Help Ltd induction package. Team members will attend a training course within the first year of employment/self-employment followed by a refresher every three years.
A Team Member/Client Survey will be conducted annually in order to gain the views of all and includes a section on diversity. We will use the information from the Team Member/Client Survey to ensure that we are meeting our equality and diversity policy aims.
Managers are to ensure that all new entrants are made aware of our Equality and Diversity policy.
We are committed to creating an environment in which;
- Differences and contributions of all home helpers and team members are recognised and valued
- Discrimination, intimidation, harassment and bullying are not tolerated, and dealt with accordingly
- All persons in contact with the organisation – clients, client families and friends, contractors, visitors – are treated equally regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, health, age, social or economic class, employment status, ex-offender status or any other inappropriate distinction.
This policy is consistent throughout the company, and is implemented by the directors and management team, franchisees and all Team Members.
Where there is believed to be a breach of this policy it should be raised immediately with the person responsible for the breach, and an attempt made to affect a resolution or rectification of that breach. Where this is not possible, the client/team member should bring it to the attention of Extra Help Ltd management team as soon as possible.
Any behaviour involving discrimination, victimisation or harassment of another will not be tolerated. Such behaviour from anyone connected with Extra Help Ltd will be investigated by Extra Help Ltd management and may amount to gross misconduct in which case the Team Member will not be offered any more work.
The details of this policy will be proactively communicated and promoted to all current Team Members and new starters.
